What Meals on Deck collects
We collect information you provide when you create and use an account, including your name, email address, profile picture, household membership, recipes, recipe photos, ratings, meal plans, grocery items, meal requests, preferences, and cooking history. Our authentication system may also process session information such as device/browser information and IP address for security and account access.
How we use information
We use this information to operate Meals on Deck, keep household members in sync, save and display recipes, generate meal plans and grocery lists, provide ratings and cooking history, support your account, and protect the service from misuse. We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and sessions
Meals on Deck uses authentication/session cookies and related technical data to keep you signed in, secure your account, and remember essential application state.
Household sharing
Meals on Deck is designed around shared households. Information such as household recipes, plans, grocery lists, requests, ratings, and history may be visible to other members of your household. Profile names and pictures may also appear where the app identifies a household member.
Service providers
Meals on Deck relies on service providers to run the app. These currently include Vercel for application hosting and file storage, Prisma Postgres for database hosting, and Resend for support/contact email delivery. Meals on Deck uses Better Auth software to manage authentication and sessions. Service providers may process information only as needed to provide their services.
Recipe imports and uploads
If you import a recipe from a website, Meals on Deck retrieves the web address you provide and attempts to extract recipe information from that page. If you upload recipe or profile images, the images are stored using Vercel Blob and may be served from a public file URL used by the app.
Data retention and deletion
We retain account and household information while it is needed to provide Meals on Deck. The app includes controls for deleting an account and, where applicable, deleting a household. Some information may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or service-provider systems as part of normal technical operations.
Age requirements
Meals on Deck accounts are intended for people age 13 or older. If you are under 18, you should use Meals on Deck only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. Children under 13 should not create an individual account.
Security
We use reasonable technical safeguards to protect account and household information, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Meals on Deck changes. When changes are significant, we may provide an in-app notice or update the effective date on this page.
